HANDCRAFTED CERAMICS

Welcome to David Ohlinger Ceramics.

I’ve been a maker all my life. In 2001 I took a ceramic class while getting an associate degree in theatre. While I did get the degree in theater, I then turned my attention to ceramics at Long Beach City College. In 2018 I graduated from California State University in Long Beach with a BFA in ceramics

I’m now proud to present my line of porcelain lamps and porcelain swag lighting, vases and table ware. The texture and thickness of the porcelain shade determines how the light emanates from its walls. Many people likened the lamps to glaciers, rocky outcrops, and crumbled bags. I continue to add more objects to the line.

The vases are made of vitreous porcelain so there is no reason to add a glaze to them and some glazes would inhibit the radiance of the lights. Also, there is no reason to add a glaze to the vases because of the vitrification process.

I hope you will enjoy my pieces in your own home as much as I love to make them.
